Privacy Policy

Loveling is built for intimacy, not surveillance. This policy explains what data we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it. We keep it as short and clear as possible.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and a unique anonymous identifier. We never see your actual Apple ID email unless you choose to share it.

Your Letter: The single character you choose to represent yourself. This is visible only to your connected partner.

Connection Data: Your partner's anonymous user ID, the date and time you connected, and the duration of your connection. We store this to keep your timer running.

Heartbeat Activity: Timestamps of when you send and receive heartbeats. We use these to calculate your streak and display your heartbeat history.

Device Token: A Firebase Cloud Messaging token and an Apple Push Notification token. These are required to deliver heartbeats and connection notifications to your device. No other device information is collected.

Payment Data: If you subscribe to Premium, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive only a confirmation that your subscription is active. We never see your credit card or payment details.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and maintain your connection with your partner
  • To display your letter in your partner's Dynamic Island and Lock Screen
  • To send push notifications for heartbeats, connection requests, and milestones
  • To keep your connection timer accurate and synced across devices
  • To manage your Premium subscription status
  • To improve the app and fix bugs

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making.

3. Where Data Is Stored

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore, a Google Cloud service with servers in the United States. Authentication is handled by Apple (Sign in with Apple) and Firebase Auth. Payments are processed by Apple (StoreKit 2). All services comply with their respective privacy and security certifications.

4. Data Sharing

We never sell your data. We never share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising. Your data is only shared with:

  • Apple Inc. — for authentication (Sign in with Apple) and payment processing (StoreKit)
  • Google LLC (Firebase) — for cloud database storage (Firestore) and push notification delivery (Cloud Messaging)

Your partner sees only your chosen letter and connection status. They never see your name, email, or any other personal information.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: Request a copy of all data we hold about you by emailing support@loveling.app
  • Delete your data: Use the "Delete Account" button in Profile to permanently erase your account, letter, and all connection data. This cannot be undone.
  • Disconnect: Tap "Disconnect" on the Love tab to end your connection. Your partner's ID is removed from your account immediately.
  • Revoke notifications: Go to iOS Settings > Loveling > Notifications and disable push notifications at any time.
  • Cancel Premium: Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions.

6. Cookies and Tracking

The Loveling app does not use cookies, trackers, or analytics SDKs. This website (loveling.app) may set minimal session cookies if we add analytics in the future. We will update this policy if that changes.

7. Children's Privacy

Loveling is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email before the changes take effect. The latest version will always be available at loveling.app/privacy.html.
